More to the North is San Pedro and its waterfall, then Fraijanes and Poasito, last town before Poás Volcano NP. With an altitude of 2,708 m,

 it is one of the most spectacular craters in the world, an enormous bowl 1 km large and 314 m deep.

Sulfuric fumaroles float around in this lunar atmosphere. As many as 79 birds species are found here.

After Varablanca, you arrive at La Paz Waterfall Gardens, an ecological attraction with 5 sumptuous waterfalls and a brand new lodge.
